Lake City & American Basin

Take a drive to Lake City along the Silver Thread National Byway. Make sure to check out Lake San Cristobal when heading in. It’s the second largest body of water in Colorado. Swing by local shops for delicious treats, and take in a matinee at the Mountaineer Movie Theater.

Consider renting an OHV or a jeep for a day and head to American Basin, known for its spectacular display of Alpine wildflowers. (Note, the drive is difficult but gorgeous. Make sure you check with local road conditions before heading out)
